Web Design and Development Process and Policy for Corporate clients
OBJECTIVES
To design or redesign client (s) web websites within INZINC . The
web development team at Inzinc will aim to create the website bASed
upon the specific needs of that client (s). The web website should
be aesthetically interesting, possess a solid color scheme, contain
a clear navigation system, and have ease of maintenance. Inzinc
will host the website on the IXwebhosting
Server (Linux). It is understood by the client (s) that
there are limited resources available to Inzinc and that not all
goals may be feasible. The goals of the client (s) as well as the
guidelines set by Inzinc will be discussed at the initial meeting
and throughout the development of the project. View our portfolio of Inzinc
web websites. Contact
us if you would like to set up a meeting!
POLICY &
GUIDELINES
Development Process
Stage 1 - Initial Meeting between Inzinc and
client (s) IP (Information Provider)
Discussion of goals and determine web website structure. Some
questions to think about:
- Would you like a custom web design or use an Inzinc web template?
- Is there a preference in color scheme?
- Logos, photographs, images to use?
- Will you need online forms?
- Navigation & Main links - what are the names for these?
Stage 2 - Inzinc will create two to three
design ideas and present to client (s)
IP to review designs, selecting one to go forward with. Inzinc open
for comments and/or requests.
Discussion of how lower levels will look
Stage 3 - Refinement of homepage design, creation
of lower level pages,
Stage 4 - Presentation of complete design,
approval from IP to go to development.
Note: Changes to images after this approval
will incur additional charges.
Stage 5 - Development
- Images are cut appropriately, exported as gifs. Image file size is then reduced for optimum load time.
- Web website is built with images, active links and navigation structure in place. Quality assurance testing is done in 4.0 and later browser versions, on both PC and Mac platforms.
- IP reviews the website and gives approval to launch.
Policies
- In keeping stride with technology, Inzinc designs/codes all web websites to function in 5.0 browsers or later. We are conscious of earlier browser versions but cannot always develop a website to perform optimally in the earlier versions.
- Inzinc uses Flash, CSS, DHTML, and other cutting edge technology only in client (s)al web designs that are maintained by Inzinc .
- Unless requested by IP and/or warranted by Inzinc , a frames structure is avoided.
Maintenance
Maintenance is important since it keeps the website current and
allows for a useful, interactive tool for visitors. Inzinc
establishes a relationship with the key contact of the client (s),
who we call the Information Provider (client). The IP is
responsible for the nature of the content that goes into the
website and should take initiative in having someone deliver that
content to the Inzinc client (s) for updates. For more information
on how updates are executed, pleASE see the contact form.
Fees and Timeframe
Inzinc has not raised fees in seven years and currently charges
$25/hour for design (or redesign) and implementation. Inzinc
cannot make estimates as to the timeframe needed for completion, as
all client (s) websites are unique in size, content, and
complexity. Inzinc accepts all jobs on a first come/first
serve basis, and they are subject to availability of
resources. Fees subject to change as needed.
Inzinc offers web maintenance / content management for client (s)al
web websites within the School of Arts & Sciences and School of

- Plan
Benefits
The Inzinc Web Maintenance Plan is encouraged for several reasons: Since clients contract with Inzinc for a web website redesign first, it is beneficial for the client (s) to have Inzinc maintain it afterwards. Inzinc can guarantee timely, scheduled updates while maintaining the quality and integrity of the website. There is little chance for website corruption since our web team is proficient in the necessary design and development skills used for building and maintaining professional web websites. Staff or student turnover is not an issue since we are a dedicated group that ensures updates and website maintenance is continued during transitional periods.
Policy
Guidelines
Maintenance IS DEFINED as follows:

- All edits to existing pages, such as change in customer name, deletions, typos, etc. An email with instructions is sufficient, but if printouts of the pages that need editing are provided instead, the edits should be marked clearly on each page.
- New pages of information should be provided on CD or as an email attachment (word or excel). Documents need to be saved in html, word doc, or excel format. Hard copies of new information are accepted but turn-around time may be extended. client (s) should indicate where new content is to be posted.
- Large amounts of information (for example, customer CV's) are at the web master's discretion and may be posted in PDF format.
Photographs and images:
- Photos can be taken by Inzinc with our digital camera or Inzinc can scan existing photos.
- Images can be loaned to Inzinc from the client (s), either on disk or hard copy for scan. Inzinc will size and optimize images as needed for the web. Acceptable formats are jpg, gif,png and tiff files.
- client (s) should indicate where images are to be placed, if there is an option.

- Creating new logos or branding images.
- Troubleshooting code created or corrupted by a party other than Inzinc .
